Alaska Sea Duck Hunting

OCTOBER-DECEMBER [KING EIDER: JANUARY]

Sea duck hunters take a variety of species from shore using decoys and from a layout blind by UFO. You can hunt Harlequin, Barrows and Common Goldeneyes, red breasted and common mergansers, and bufflehead from shore using decoys.  From the layout boat, you can take all 3 scoters, long-tails, and greater scaup.

You hunt puddlers like Mallards, Pintails, Widgeon, Green wing teal, Gadwell,  and the occasional Shoveler while onshore.

Emperor geese are taken by the spot and stalk method. Presently Alaska residents can register to harvest 1 Emperor goose per year, whereas non-residents and non-US citizens may enter the annual ADFG drawing to obtain a permit.

We take hunters to specific spots for specific species and sometimes move several times a day. If you cannot retrieve your bird, your Guide will retrieve it for you.

Please see current USFWS Migratory Bird Regulations for specifics on bag limits.
